Deaf in Heaven

I remember from my childhood a strong feeling of wanting to keep my Deaf identity when go to Heaven.

Adrian,

I'm really glad you brought this topic to light. Just last Sunday at Mass, we had a scripture reading about how the blind will see, the crippled will walk and the deaf will hear.

The priest who was giving Mass was able to sign, but was not really culturally aware. Many Deaf parishioners made faces and a few reacted with a jolt. I know this is a common reaction.

I wish there would be a better translation of what this scripture might mean for Deaf people and for blind and crippled too.

Perhaps the opening of minds and hearts is the real message rather than the literal opening of eyes and ears and changes in the body. I'm not sure we'll even have a body in heaven. maybe we are all spirits. So this interpretation needs to be looked at deeply by those who minister to the Deaf and Blind, etc.

I thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing about when you were little. Deaf is a true core to be proud (while we are on Earth) ;))) Cute memory of your childhood. I enjoy it.

*giggles* I love your cat. I am sure that your cat steals everyone's attention. I have a cat...he did pass while I was talking on the vlog (my second one)....but it is not bad.

Keep up vlogging!

Hi,

I'd like to share with you with what I've read those who talked about having deaf identity in heaven... definitely we can use sign language and talk same time.

We all, we who are different people from different countries speak various languages, right? So therefore those who are saved, (importantly that you accept Christ as your Savior in your heart) those that speak different than ours, can speak their own language in Heaven. It is because, God is omniscient (knows everything) and He is beyond our intelligent. He is able to undertsand us, even with foreign language when we talk to each other, we can understand one another!

How do I know? I suggest you look in the Bible- In Revelation 7:9 says:

"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;"

The word "tongues" in those verses means language we speak. Example, in English, Italian, Chinese, so on...

It says again in verse 10:11, 11:9, 13:7, and 17:15.

It is amazing, how God is able to do this in His power of creation.

I hope this helps. Smiles.

Any questions please feel free to ask me.

well, in heaven, everything will be perfect. you won't be deaf, no offense. no one will be sick, no one will be sad, and everyone will understand each other, and we won't need other languages, i.e. asl, french, spanish, romanian, english...heaven will be more than what we've ever dreamed of, but that's also why God gave us the ability to see beauty in this world, even in the things that hurt.
