Vlogs & Blogs for Bi-Bi Education!

I use Jim Cumming's Theory of "The Relationship between American Sign Language Proficency and English Academic Development" to make a case that Vlogs & Blogs are the best thing ever for Bi-Bi Education of the Deaf!

*there is a typo of Jim Cumming's last name in the vlog. My apologies.

Receptive Quiz:

Language Theory: Deaf tend to use _________ as 1st language to learn _________________ as 2nd language.

Bi-Bi Education: #BIBI means Bi-___________ Bi-______________.

Vlogs & Blogs: How is English seen/used in the Bi-Bi vlogs?
Conculsion: What is the best thing to ever happen to Bi-Bi Education of the Deaf? Proven by what Theory?

Yup, we’re well aware of the benefits of ASL vlogging. But since you included English in your vlog, that makes you a Bilingual Vlogger, hmm? Just kidding folks. ASL vlogger who has a way with English as well. ;) Good vlog.

It will be nice to have school with deaf programs encourage deaf students use this method you just covered about bi-bi education. I guarantee you they will boost their ASL/English skills. Great post!

Splendid! I hope the approach is spreading not only in schools for deaf children but also in the homes of hearing parents of deaf children!

Thanks for your excellent demonstration.

Great in theory. It's been attempted many times only to be dissed as audism. Like I see the two-faceness of the ASL promoters ,like DBC, they rant on about using ASL to learn English but does anyone see it really applied anywhere? It's been tried only to be dissed as a facet of audism.

Hi,
There's a mis-spelling. The researcher's name is Jim Cummins, not Jim Cumming.

It's true that most people only talk about a bilingual education; so it's refreshing and educational for me to think about a bilingual and bicultural education.

This is only the beginning. As someone whose first language is Mandarin and English, and whose second language is ASL and Spanish, and to a lesser (much lesser!) degree Japanese Sign Language, my own vision is when we can all be multi-lingual as we use language to cross cultural barriers to gain a deeper and more empathetic understanding of human kind!

Thanks for the vlog, as usual, I love watching you sign. Ta!
