Efficiency of ASL!

I realized at the DeafRead conference that the Deaf & our natural sign language can do 2 workshops in 1 room!! How efficient!

Hi Adrian! Nice to see you point this out. However, I remember a comment Genie Gertz made to me that afternoon. She said she often chose to sit in the middle of the two presentations so she could catch a little of both, back and forth. But she also added that while she thought she had the best advantage, she actually realized she missed a little too much of each presentation and wished she could have attended ALL of them to catch it all! It was certainly good to have choices though. As a presenter, I was a bit bummed because there were people presenting opposite of me who I would have loved to watch!

But, yes! ASL is definitely efficient. My husband and I love using ASL under water while we're snorkeling! Those who do not sign or depend on reading lips have to come up to the surface, take their snorkel out of their mouths and then talk. Ha! ASL beats that! (wink) ;)

Right! I agree and we're so lucky. We can eat and sign at the same time, too?

Absolute true! I don't understand why AGBell and his people think ASL isn't a advantage in many ways. Your presentation is perfect example why ASL is awesome language. :)

Its great to meet you and your bother at conference. Your brother was one who told me that he is your brother. I was shocked and realized that your beard is a mask for similar identity. It's awesome to meet a twin and both of you are deaf. :)

Remember, your ideas are priceless and I will keep them in my mind for future project especially the "ASLTank" as I really like this idea. :)

Thanks for capturing the magic of the day and sharing it with us.

I really enjoyed being able to participate in one workshop and check in with the other just by turning around. Perhaps at the next DR conference we will have a bigger room and can use all 4 corners!

great blog!
