Yeah! I agree with you. I always think that there should be something like what you just suggested. It is just something that ASL learners could go to and view various styles of signers. The categorized groups of signs may help the signers to learn more signs and to use as reference.

Great idea. I'm a database consultant and would like to help with some of the technical bits on this. At the very least, I can design and build the database. We'd need someone to do the user interface. Perhaps we can discuss this in class on Monday.

What you're describing sounds very similar to the Wiki concept, a user generated repository of information. Seems we're not too far off from being able to implement this. There are applications that allow for video recording right in the site itself, like the deafologues preview we saw at DR conference. That functionality with search capabilities could create what you're looking for.

as a student in ASL i find this idea to be... great!! ASL dictionary's kinda suck and this idea can be expanded to include regional signs. sounds like you need to contact a web page designer. they might be able to help you out or if your looking for a cheaper way contact a tech school, they are always looking for things students can work on but you would need an advanced webmaster. hope this helps
